Steps to K-Beauty
Steps to K-Beauty
Korean women are known to use 10-steps, or ten different products for their daily skin routine. That’s a lot of steps, but we’ve picked the most important steps for our customers, who may not have the time or patience, but want the results of K-Beauty.
Typically, two cleansers are used: a deep cleanser followed by a more mild cleanser. Deep cleansers are used right before bed, mild cleansers are used before bed and in the morning.
First Step: Deep Cleanser
Oil-based cleanser: For oily skin. A deep cleanser that removes heavy make-up, impurities, and also exfoliates. Removes blackheads. Massage gently with your fingertips and rinse with water.
Water-based cleanser: A more versatile cleanser that removes makeup, but can also be used as a toner. Contains lipids that removes oil, makeup and dust.
Second Step: Mild Cleanser
Gel cleanser: For oily to acne prone skin. Removes excess surface oils.
Cream cleanser: For normal to dry skin. Removes impurities but also adds moisture back to the skin.
Foam cleanser: For oily to acne prone skin. Removes dirt and debris.
Toners remove any residue remaining after cleansing. Also, it soothes the skin and prepares it for the next steps of hydration.
If you have dry skin and want to maximize hydration, the 7-step skin method is recommended.
3.Essences, Serums and Ampoules
Think of these products as layers of hydration, and depending on the problems you want to target, you can mix and match to create your own arsenal of hydration layers.
Essence: A light-weight layer of hydration. High concentration of moisturizing ingredients. Like a serum but with the feel of a toner. Apply after toner, before moisturizer.
Serums: A boost of hydration. Contains high levels of nourishing ingredients, and depending on the product can brighten skin tone, hydrate, reduce fine lines, and strengthen skin cells.
Ampoules: Even more potent than a serum. Condensed active ingredients, and recommended to use only once or twice weekly.
The final step of K-Beauty. Seals all of these steps with a boost of good moisturizer.
Aloe Vera Gel: For oily to combination skin. Treats sunburns and provides a protective layer that replenishes moisture without leaving a heavy residue.
Lotion: For oily to normal skin, recommended for summer. Water-based, light-weight application, non-oily finish.
Cream: For dry to normal skin, recommended for winter. Higher oil concentration results in a heavier, richer texture.
Oil: Ideal for wrinkles, enlarged pores, dryness, and rough skin. Protects against pollutants and strengthens skin elasticity. Also, enhance your favourite moisturizer by adding a few drops of oil to your favorite lotion or cream.
